Well, I personally think Neal/Lindholm should be a hell of a lot better then Ferland/Frolik on the top 6 RW.
Seems whatever the Hell GG had the D doing it was leaving Smith out to dry. Looking for an improvement with the defense this year as well. |

Yeah, they're much deeper on the right side. Neal/Lindholm/Frolik/Czarnik is really good.

Left side looks pretty solid with Gaudreau, Tkachuk & Bennett.
Going to be a much different 4th line this year. |

Didn't you hear? Neal is basically Lucic and that contract's a disaster! |

Yup, and just because we did not make playoffs last year they will not make playoffs this year.
But they should win the conference. |

And according to Ek, we're looking to add... EK. Not sure how that works but I wouldn’t want to give up too much future for 1 year of EK. |

Just for fun, what do you think it would take to get Karlsson? Do you think that Bennett, Stone and a 1st would get it done? I had heard that Ottawa was interested in Stone so figured I'd put that in there, they don't need to know that we'd like to move him. |

If we’re going to be giving them that much they better throw in Brady.. |

I want the Flames to set the Pacific on fire!
Boy, it was so much fun playing NHL hockey (93) with them... first line Roberts-Nieuwendyk-Fleury / MacInnes-Suter / Vernon ! |

If we were to get Karlsson, it likely costs us one of Gio, Brodie, or Hamonic, plus a high end prospect like, say, Valimaki, and maybe a 3rd piece. I'm not sure I'm doing that unless I get assurance Karlsson is going to re-sign.
We have the pieces to make it happen, I'm just not sure it's worth it. |

Gio has a NTC and is too old for the Sens. Hamonic isn't good enough to be one of the main pieces.
Brodie + Valimaki + pick probably gets you a shot at Karlsson |

Flames would also need him to re-sign at a much lower cap hit than i suspect he'd like. |

Good points Todd. I for one am excited to see what prospects fall to us here in KC. Last year we got plenty of goalies. Looking for more in the second year of our relationship.

I don't want EK in Calgary anyways. Guy is injury prone and is playing lower than his required 11m a year.
Team in a good place atm.
I'd expect an opening night lineup to look like:
JG/Mony/Lindholm
Chucky/Backs/Neal
Bennett/Janko/Frolik
Mangy/Ryan/Foo-Czarnik
Gio/Brodie
Hanifin/Hamonic
FatRass/Stone |

Man I just do not see Frolik being a fit on that 3rd. Want someone that can generate some offence. Hoping Czarnik is there

I've got no problem waving Hathaway or Lazar. Both are perimeter players, dime a dozen, easily replaced. |

I could see there actually being some truth to this rumour. Treliving might be thinking that the best way to counter the best forward in the world would be to bring in the best defenseman in the world.
It could make some sense for Ottawa to be after Tkachuk (I would much rather us be after Brady--but Ottawa landing Matthew & having Brady could be seen as a big win for the franchise).
I know that it is EK65 we are talking about here, but if Tkachuk is included in this deal then our 1st & all of our top tier prospects (Dube, Valimaki, Rass, etc.) should be off limits.
I would rather see us try to package something else--but again the cost in picks/prospects might be too rich for my blood. |
